A Nigerian lady has taken to TikTok to share a troubling experience involving an inDrive driver who allegedly assaulted and threatened her after she corrected him about the proper route to her home during a ride.
In the video posted on her TikTok page, the lady narrated that she had booked a ride through the inDrive platform, and an assigned driver responded promptly to her request.
As the trip progressed, she realized the driver was navigating a wrong path to her destination and politely informed him of the mistake, suggesting an alternate route she knew better.
The driver initially resisted but eventually complied and changed direction to follow her guidance.
However, tensions quickly escalated when they reached a certain stretch of road where the driver insisted there was no turning, while the lady maintained that a turn was indeed available but that the driver was simply unfamiliar with the area.
Her attempt to correct the driver reportedly angered him, leading him to ask her to exit the vehicle despite not having arrived at her destination.
She recounted: “I booked a ride from inDrive to my house. On the way, I noticed the driver was passing a wrong route. I told him this is not the way to my house. I said he doesn’t know the road, that there’s a turning there, but he kept arguing and told me to get down.”
According to her account, after pulling over on the expressway, the driver demanded that she get out of the car, and as she stepped out and tried to gather her belongings, the driver allegedly reversed the vehicle while the door was still open, hitting her in the process and threatening her life.
She described the frightening moment: “This man reversed, the door hit me, and he threatened to kill me. I had to run away. He was saying he would slap me.”
In the caption accompanying her TikTok post, the woman identified the driver as Deji and expressed her disappointment with the ride-hailing company, urging them to improve their hiring practices and ensure the safety of their customers.
She wrote: “This inDrive driver, Deji, reversed and almost ran over me while the door was open and my things were still in the car! Just because I told him he was passing the wrong route to my house. @inDrive, do better! Stop employing sad and frustrated people!”
The video and accompanying story quickly sparked outrage on social media, with many users tagging inDrive and calling for urgent action to address driver misconduct and protect passengers.
