Tragedy struck the campus of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, UNIZIK, as a male student tragically lost his life after jumping from a three-storey building located within the university premises.
According to multiple eyewitness accounts and reports from the scene, the student, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, reportedly jumped from the balcony of the building after allegedly consuming a hard substance known locally as ‘Colos’. This substance is believed to have impaired his judgment leading to the unfortunate incident.
The deceased student’s roommate, who was reportedly also under the influence of a hard substance at the time, is currently in police custody. Authorities have indicated that the roommate will be questioned thoroughly once his medical condition stabilizes to shed more light on the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event.
The incident occurred on June 5, 2025, when a loud noise was heard by other students on campus. Eyewitnesses quickly rushed to the location and found the male student lying motionless in a pool of blood beneath the building. Immediate medical assistance was sought, but sadly, the student was pronounced dead at the scene.
Despite the gravity of the situation, the university management has yet to issue any official statement addressing the tragedy, leaving the student community and public eager for more information and reassurance regarding safety measures on campus.
