Man laments online as he recounts how he lost a job of $2K after his potential employer found out he was a Nigerian.
The man identified on X as @fwdaniels took to social media to reveal that he recently got a gig that was meant to pay him over $2K. He expressed his frustration, explaining that things took a turn for the worse when the employer found out he was from Nigeria. While conversing with the employer, he had mentioned his nationality, which led to the unfortunate rejection. He was told that they were not currently open to people from his location.
In his post, the man shared a screenshot of the conversation, where he lamented: “just lost a $2k+ gig for being Nigerian, i’m so devastated rn. i genuinely wished i lied about being Nigerian.” His words conveyed his deep disappointment and regret over the situation. The rejection due to his nationality highlighted the challenges many Nigerians face in securing international job opportunities, with some employers expressing reluctance to work with Nigerians.
