A Nigerian man has gone viral after he emotionally revealed that he still earns just N130,000 monthly despite working in the banking sector for over 16 years.
The revelation came during a candid interview with Lucky Udu, where the man shared his frustration and disappointment over his stagnant salary and the treatment he has endured throughout his career.
According to him, being employed as a contract staff for such a long period has left him in financial distress, and he often finds himself borrowing money even after receiving his salary just to get through the month.
He also lamented the humiliation he faces in his job, including being sent on personal errands by his superiors, such as buying pepper or fetching water, despite being employed in a professional capacity.
The man painfully expressed, “Presently I earn N130K. Even after salary is paid, I have to borrow money to survive for the next one month. Your supervisor can even send you to buy pepper or buy water. And you call yourself a banker. It’s as terrible as that. Why would I be working in a financial organisation and I do not have financial sustainability… I made that video out of frustration because I had been employed as a contract staff for the past 16 years.”
His emotional testimony has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many expressing outrage over the banking industry’s treatment of long-serving contract staff. The video has ignited conversations about fair wages, job security, and workplace dignity in Nigeria.
