The man, known on X (formerly Twitter) as @carlo_di_wuu, recounted his horrifying ordeal while calling on the state governor, Peter Mbah, to urgently address the alarming rise in attacks linked to Fulani herdsmen in the state.

Sharing details of his experience, he wrote: “Fulani herdsmen/terrorists came to our crib at Heliu Estate, Enugu, and took away our things at gunpoint.” According to him, the attackers were heavily armed and moved as a group, leaving residents completely defenseless and terrified.

He went further to highlight the deteriorating security situation in Enugu, mentioning another recent tragedy that had shaken the community: “A young boy was also killed and his Venza snatched from him along Bricks Estate last week. What is the hope of a citizen in Enugu State? Who is the next victim?”

The visibly distraught man expressed deep frustration and sadness, warning that residents now feel unsafe even in their own homes and neighborhoods. He described how the attack could have turned deadly had there been any attempt to resist the armed group, estimated to be between 10 to 15 men.

“Our lives would have been history if these men used their weapons on us, or if we had resisted. What is really going on in our land, @PNMbah?” he asked, questioning the government’s response and commitment to protecting citizens.

He further hinted at the possibility of taking self-defense measures if immediate action is not taken to curb the attacks, writing: “I would have to defend myself against these people, and nobody has the right to question me. If nothing is done about this, the next set of these people are going to meet their creator. I swear on my dad’s grave. 48 hours until I equip myself against being slaughtered 💔.”

His emotional post resonated widely, sparking a flood of reactions from worried Nigerians who flooded the comment section to share their thoughts, fears, and suggestions on the growing security crisis in Enugu State.

Residents have continued to urge the government to deploy stronger security measures, increase patrols, and ensure that communities are safeguarded from these violent attacks. Many also called for increased public awareness and stronger community vigilance as they await government intervention.
