The incident was shared via a detailed thread on X (formerly known as Twitter) by user @simplymusah. In the post, he explained that he boarded a vehicle resembling a RAV4, believing it to be a legitimate ride. At the time he entered, he was the only passenger in the car.

Soon after, the driver requested that he shift to the back seat under the pretext of needing space for another passenger to sit in front. While he noted this is something he usually avoids, he agreed this time, not suspecting danger.

Not long after moving to the back, a suspicious man dressed entirely in black, with a face cap hiding most of his face, appeared beside him in the back seat without warning. This instantly made him uneasy, and he asked the driver to stop the car—but his requests were ignored.

His suspicion escalated when the driver tried to pick up yet another passenger near BUA Estate. It was at that moment that things took a darker turn.

“As I tried to come down, I felt something pressed against my side—it felt like a weapon,” he wrote. “The man next to me was trying to control my movement. I screamed and shouted for help, pushing the door open as I struggled.”

Luckily, security guards positioned near the estate gate witnessed the commotion and began to react just as the traffic light nearby was about to turn green.

The attention from the security personnel appeared to startle the suspects, prompting the man in black to flee the scene immediately. In the confusion, @simplymusah managed to force the door open and jump out of the moving vehicle before the driver could speed off.

He ended his chilling story with a heartfelt warning to others: “Please, always trust your instincts.”

The account has since gone viral on social media, triggering alarm and sparking conversations about the increasing frequency of one chance incidents in Nigeria’s capital city. Many netizens have urged residents to remain vigilant, avoid isolated or suspicious vehicles, and always share trip details with trusted contacts when using public or private transportation.
