A heartbroken Nigerian man has taken to social media to tearfully share his distressing experience after discovering that his girlfriend allegedly disappeared with his car shortly after he returned to Nigeria from abroad. The deeply emotional story has since gone viral, stirring mixed reactions among netizens.

In a video posted by user @dammiedammie35 on X (formerly Twitter), the man is seen crying uncontrollably as he narrates what happened. According to him, he returned to Nigeria just two days ago without informing his girlfriend, hoping to surprise her. However, instead of a warm reunion, he was met with silence as she refused to answer his calls, and to his shock, his car had also vanished from his house.

Through tears, he lamented: “This is my house. I’m doing this video so you all can know what’s going on. I returned to Nigeria two days ago and didn’t tell my girlfriend I was coming. Now, she’s not picking my calls and my car is not in my house.”

He further revealed that he tried to track the missing vehicle using a tracking device but faced another setback. “Yesterday, I was trying to track the car. Just when we were about to get close, the tracker signal got lost,” he said.

The man identified the girlfriend as Jessica, explaining that he had a personal reason for not informing her of his return. Although he did not reveal the full details of this reason, he made it clear that he was both emotionally and financially devastated by the betrayal.

Since the video surfaced online, it has sparked a flood of comments and reactions from social media users, many of whom sympathized with him, while others criticized him for crying publicly and recording himself during such a vulnerable moment.

See some reactions below:

@_Nsznn: “Is he crying cus of his car or his girlfriend? And none of these requires a man to shed tears.”

@FolajeuwoNelson: “It’s fine to panic cos of ladies but to cry isn’t accepted in the brotherhood, to now record yourself crying and post it on social media is condemnation from brotherhood. Stay strong, she belongs to the street.” 

@omonna14: “Give her small time make she discharge her naija boyfriend first naaaaaaaa.”

@_BarnyO: “There’s more to the anger… How can she just be angry for being surprised… Another man don lodge her.”

@uchebakaadi: “Don’t b stewpid, nobody cares about ur skit. It’s dis ur mumurity that probably made girl scamper with ur property. Crying on SocMed is that d law enforcement that u should contact.”

Despite the backlash and jokes, several people offered him words of encouragement and urged him to report the incident to the police rather than addressing it solely on social media. Some also expressed concern for his emotional well-being, highlighting the dangers of misplaced trust and the importance of caution when dealing with intimate relationships, especially when assets are involved.

Many users agreed that the situation serves as a lesson to be careful with trust, urging others to avoid leaving expensive properties in the care of someone without clear agreements or oversight, especially in long-distance relationships.
