The young Nigerian lady at the centre of a viral clash with a 50-year-old female Uber driver has finally come forward to share her side of the story in a detailed video explanation that has garnered widespread attention online.
Known on TikTok as @hermajestygem, the lady offered an in-depth account of the events that led to the heated altercation which sparked intense debate and reactions across social media platforms.
According to her, the incident occurred when she and her aunties boarded a ride in Lagos and immediately noticed that the driver’s personal belongings were taking up part of the seat space intended for them.
“We were actually happy to see a female driver, because that’s not something you see often,” she explained, emphasizing their initial positive impression before the conflict arose.
However, tension escalated quickly after they politely requested the driver to remove her items from the seat to make room for passengers. She described how the driver responded with unexpected hostility and sharp remarks.
“When my aunty said, ‘You know your personal belongings were not supposed to be in your car,’ she snapped and said, ‘Can’t you see I just came back from my other job? Besides, this is my car,’” @hermajestygem recounted, illustrating the driver’s dismissive and defensive attitude.
The young lady further explained that the driver’s rude behavior toward her aunties was what really upset her and compelled her to speak up during the confrontation.
“She responded to my aunty like that and I took it up because you’ve disrespected my person, who is also an elderly one,” she emphasized, highlighting her motivation for standing her ground.
Her aunt, who captured the now-viral video footage, supported the narrative by stating that the driver’s behaviour was aggressive from the moment they got inside the vehicle, which led her to start filming the interaction as a form of documentation.
Addressing critics who accused her of being disrespectful to an older person, the young woman defended her stance firmly.
“I guess you’re used to people talking to you anyhow because they’re older. Perhaps, if it was just me, I would’ve let it slide. But she was rude to my aunties first,” she said, pointing out the importance of respect regardless of age.
The video has since sparked considerable discussion on social media, with viewers divided between those sympathizing with @hermajestygem’s perspective and others questioning the conduct of all parties involved.
