A heartbreaking story has emerged from Nigeria, where a young man living with epilepsy has accused his father of throwing him out of the house and abandoning him because of his medical condition. The emotional account was shared in a video posted to TikTok, sparking widespread reactions online.

According to the man, he suffered an epileptic episode and was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. However, upon returning home after his recovery, he claimed that his father refused to let him back into the house, telling him that he was “old enough to fight his battles alone.”

Despite repeated efforts to seek reconciliation, including reporting the issue to the church his father attends and even involving the police, his father allegedly remained resolute in his decision. The man expressed his shock and despair at being rejected by the one person he expected support from during such a vulnerable time in his life.

In his own words, he said: “After leaving the hospital, I went back home. When I got home, my dad refused to let me enter. He said I’m claiming to know more than him, that I should go and fight my battle myself.”

“He said I’m old enough. I literally told him I’m battling a chronic condition and how do you expect me to fight all the battles myself? He was like, ‘That’s your business, go fight your battles yourself.’”

The young man’s story quickly went viral, touching the hearts of many online who were appalled by his father’s alleged actions and extended messages of comfort, support, and prayers in the comment section.

@ehinowhen

I left the hospital and went back to my dad’s house. He denied me entry. I was stranded, helpless, and homeless. My friend calmed me down. Rented a hotel. Told me to rest first, we’d figure things out. When I felt better, I took the matter to his church. No success. To the police — and they begged me to go back to the same church that chained me. Told me “my dad means well”… and that I should wait for a miracle. #epilepsyawareness#chronicillness #FamilyRejection #DisabilityRights @aprokodoctor @VDM @Don Jazzy @asherkine @Instablog9ja
