A Nigerian father has stirred emotions online after sharing a heartbreaking experience involving his daughter at the popular Emirate Mall in Ilorin. Taking to TikTok, the man explained that he and his child were denied entry into the shopping complex due to her medical condition, leaving him deeply humiliated and emotional.
In the video, which has since gone viral, the father could be seen visibly distressed as he narrated how the incident unfolded. According to him, they had only gone to the mall to purchase a few items for the little girl. Unfortunately, their visit turned sour when a security officer allegedly asked them to leave the premises without providing a clear reason.
“I’m very disappointed. I took my baby here for shopping, but it’s so sad that the security officer sent us out because of my baby,” he lamented in the video, his voice cracking with emotion.
He explained further that the manner in which the security officer addressed them was both embarrassing and demeaning, stating that no one should ever be treated in such a manner — especially when dealing with a child who already faces enough challenges.
The man expressed how heartbreaking it was to be turned away simply because of his child’s appearance or condition, stating that society must do better in terms of inclusivity and compassion for children with special needs or health challenges.
However, in a later update shared in a follow-up video, the man revealed that the situation was somewhat resolved after the Chief Security Officer of the mall became aware of the incident and decided to intervene. The CSO reportedly approached them with kindness and allowed them access into the mall.
Following the release of the videos, many social media users took to the comment section to express their thoughts, support, and outrage over how the man and his daughter were treated. Reactions were largely sympathetic and filled with messages of encouragement and prayers for the young girl’s well-being.[/
