The Deeper Life Bible Church has issued a strong statement condemning the demolition of several of its properties across Lagos State by various government agencies. The church described the actions as unjustified, targeted, and an attack on their right to worship freely.

According to a press release signed by the church’s legal representatives, Nojim Tairu & Co., there has been a growing pattern of interference by state authorities. These actions, the church claims, have led to harassment of church members, threats of demolition, and unlawful restrictions on their worship and community-related activities.

“Over the past months, our church has faced an unsettling pattern of interference from certain state agencies, resulting in harassment, threats of demolition, and restrictions on our places of worship and community centers,” the statement emphasized.

The church highlighted three specific incidents of demolition that have deeply affected its operations:

The Chronicle Yaba Church, which was reportedly brought down by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA);
The Olorunishola Church, which was allegedly demolished by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA);
The Lawanson Church, which the church claims was destroyed by the Surulere Local Government.

“These actions not only infringe on the rights of our congregation but also raise serious concerns about religious freedom, property rights, and due process in Lagos State,” the church warned.

In response to these incidents, the Deeper Life Bible Church is calling on the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and other relevant state and federal authorities to launch a full investigation into the demolitions. They urge swift intervention to prevent further occurrences and ensure justice is served.

The church further underscored its commitment to peace and lawful conduct, stating: “Deeper Life Bible Church has always abided by the law and promoted peace among all communities. These recent developments, however, necessitate urgent attention to prevent further erosion of public trust and religious harmony.”

In a show of unity and resolve, the church has appealed to the Nigerian public, religious organizations, legal experts, and the international faith community to rally behind them. They are seeking broad-based support in their demand for justice, fairness, and the protection of religious rights.

“We remain committed to our mission of spiritual growth, humanitarian service, and social development. We will not be deterred by these challenges and are prepared to explore all legal avenues to uphold our rights and preserve our sanctuaries,” the church concluded in its statement.
