She openly shared that she mutes her vendors on WhatsApp and restricts them from viewing her status updates. Her reason? To prevent them from hiking prices when they realize she’s making a profit from reselling their goods.
In a video posted by @fresh__lily on TikTok, the woman explained that after a troubling experience with one of her perfume vendors, she decided to block all her current and future vendors from seeing her WhatsApp status. The issue began when she advertised perfumes she had purchased from a vendor, clearly listing her selling price, which naturally included a markup for profit.
However, the vendor saw her post and realized she was reselling the products for a higher amount. As a result, the vendor began to deliberately increase the cost price of the perfumes anytime she came to restock, believing that the businesswoman could afford more since she was profiting from the sales.
She recounted how this act of price manipulation caught her off guard and ultimately led her to stop buying from that particular vendor. Interestingly, the vendor noticed the drop in patronage and went as far as removing her from a business sales group, questioning why she was no longer buying from them.
As a result of this experience, she concluded that restricting vendors from her WhatsApp status was the best way to avoid similar situations in the future. She emphasized that she now protects her pricing strategy and business margins by keeping vendors unaware of how she advertises and prices her goods.
