Princess Opeyemi Bright has been officially inaugurated as the youngest mayor in the history of the United Kingdom, taking office as the First Citizen of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.

Born in the United Kingdom to Nigerian parents, Bright embarked on her political journey at the tender age of 22. Princess Opeyemi Bright comes from a family deeply rooted in public service. Her mother, Dr. Afolasade Bright, served as a Civic Mayor of Hackney, demonstrating a family legacy of commitment to civic duties. Additionally, her father, Pastor Gbolahan Bright MBE, is a senior minister in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), further inspiring her dedication to service and leadership.
