A school known as Aunty Joy has reportedly expelled a student after the child’s parent declined to pay a ₦15,000 party fee and raised complaints about the charge.

This incident was brought to light through a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where the mother of the student voiced her frustration and shared details of the situation.

The mother explained that the school provided two separate payment accounts—one designated for tuition fees and the other specifically for the party levy. She chose to pay only the tuition fee, as she was not interested in the party fee.

However, it was alleged that the school used the paid tuition money to cover the party expenses instead. The school then issued a receipt for the party levy and adjusted the remaining balance toward the tuition.

Demanding transparency and accountability, the woman confronted the school management regarding the misuse of the funds.

In response to her complaint, the school allegedly expelled her child, locked the student out of the school building along with his books, and instructed teachers to bar her from entering the premises.

While protesting outside the school gates, the mother said: “The management of Aunty Joy School told the teachers to give me back my school fees. They said they’re chasing my kids out because I complained and refused to pay for the party.”

She further added, “We were given different accounts for tuition and party fees. We paid for tuition, but they issued a party levy receipt instead. Now they’ve asked the teachers to bring my child’s things out because we complained about the ₦15,000 party fee.”

The video capturing her protest and testimony has since gone viral, triggering widespread online debate and numerous reactions regarding the school’s handling of the matter.

Some reactions from social media users include:
