Air Peace has announced a temporary 12-hour suspension of its Lagos flights, effective Saturday, July 12, 2025. This decision has been made in light of the Lagos State Police Command’s directive on movement restrictions scheduled during the local government elections taking place that day.
According to a statement released by Air Peace, all flights in and out of Lagos will be suspended from 3:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025. The airline further confirmed that normal flight operations will resume at 4:00 p.m. on the same day, immediately after the movement restrictions are lifted.

In its statement, Air Peace expressed deep regret for any disruption this temporary suspension might cause to passengers’ travel plans. The airline assured all affected passengers that every effort is being made to minimize inconveniences and to resume services promptly as soon as the restrictions end.
Air Peace emphasized that the decision to suspend flights was made out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety and comfort of its passengers and crew members. The airline encouraged passengers to stay updated through official communication channels and to make necessary adjustments to their travel itineraries where needed.
The Lagos State Police Command had earlier announced a statewide restriction on vehicular and pedestrian movement during the elections to ensure security and maintain order at polling stations. As a result, many businesses, including airlines, have had to temporarily adjust their schedules to comply with the directive.
Reactions to the announcement have been mixed on social media. A user, Gloves Gloria, commented, “The suspension might be precautionary; let’s hope it’s safe,” highlighting the focus on safety and precaution behind Air Peace’s decision.
Another user, Fatai, expressed concern, asking, “Hope there is alternative?” This reflects the worries of passengers who may now need to look for alternative travel arrangements or reschedule important engagements due to the suspension.
However, Prince Adebayo offered a more critical perspective, stating, “Nothing like elections in Lagos State on Saturday, it’s just the day assigned to announce their selected candidates officially 😁😁🤣😁.” His comment underlines the skepticism held by some regarding the political process and its impact on daily activities, including air travel.
Despite these reactions, Air Peace reassured the public of its commitment to passenger safety and operational efficiency. The airline reiterated that flights outside Lagos and operations scheduled before and after the restricted hours will proceed as planned. Passengers are encouraged to contact the airline’s customer service for updates or to make necessary changes to their bookings.
This temporary suspension serves as a reminder of how civic activities such as elections can affect transportation logistics and the importance of staying informed when planning travel during such periods.
