A Nigerian lady has gone viral after receiving a generous $2,000 gift from Tems’ manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi, for displaying what he described as “a lot of sense” during an online exchange on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
The moment unfolded following a post by Grammy-winning singer Tems, who took to her account to address ongoing discourse and unsolicited remarks about her body, particularly focusing on her backside. Her statement sought to reclaim control over her narrative, criticizing the scrutiny she faces online.
In her post, Tems wrote: “Okay, 7 years in. It’s time to pack it up. I never thought I’d need to say it but you are all weird. ‘It’s small, it’s flat, it’s fat.’ Dog, IT’S MINE. ‘Show us your bumbum’ lol so me too I will turn and say ‘see🥰’ Nah show ME yours first?? See how that feels? It’s just a body. I will add and lose weight. I never once hid my body, I just didn’t feel the need to prove or disprove anyone. The more you don’t like my body the better for me actually. But it’s enough now. Move on from my bum.”
Shortly after, a user attempted to justify the chatter by saying: “Real one knows she just have big laps not actual ass.”
Tems’ response sparked reactions from fans and critics alike. Her manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi—popularly known as @IAmDonawon on X—chimed in, expressing frustration over the comments: “No single sense do they have on this app. Not even half a sense.”
This comment didn’t sit well with another user, who wrote in response: “Na only one person tweet about her bum but na everybody on the app no get sense. Igbati kee you dia omo werey,” suggesting that Awoniyi unfairly generalized everyone on the platform over a single comment.
In response, another lady identified as @chidimmaibe came to Awoniyi’s defense, replying: “It’s not only 1 person. That’s just the person they used as example. There are many more ignorant foolish tweets about it.”
Moved by her thoughtful reply and strong reasoning, Awoniyi requested for her bank details and gifted her $2,000 as a reward for her clarity and support. He praised her for having “a lot of sense,” which quickly made headlines and gained traction online.
