It should be recalled that a young Nigerian man identified as Tumma made headlines after he alleged that the Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, was romantically involved with a man in Abuja. Following this, a petition was filed by her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, leading to Tumma being invited and detained by the police.

He was invited by the police following a petition by Ned Nwoko.

The detention of Tumma sparked public outcry, especially from Sowore, who took a firm stance against what he described as the misuse of power and violation of the young man’s rights. Nwoko, in his reaction, criticized Sowore’s intervention, stating that Tumma must be prosecuted and serve time in prison, and dismissed Sowore as a “jobless” individual meddling in matters that don’t concern him.

However, Sowore has now hit back in a strongly worded reply, pledging to ensure Tumma’s release and reaffirming his commitment to justice and human rights advocacy.

Sowore, in his statement, emphasized that he would never be intimidated by insults or threats and revealed that he had previously helped secure the release of several individuals wrongfully detained due to Ned Nwoko’s influence. He drew attention to a past incident involving controversial influencer Jaruma and others from Nwoko’s community who were also unlawfully held in custody.

He said …

“Senator@Prince_NedNwoko

I read on http://Legit.ng that you stated Gabriel Timothy, also known as Tumma, will be imprisoned for 10 years without trial. You also allegedly claimed that I am jobless for advocating for Tumma’s rights.”

“I want to remind you that, just as we secured Jaruma’s release and that of several other young people from your village you unlawfully detained at the FCID in Abuja in 2021 and beyond, Tumma will also be released. Injustice will not be tolerated.”

“I am proud to be working to restore human dignity, a job that does not require embezzling local government funds, engaging in shady politics or stealing land from the poor. If I were jobless and hungry, I would have accepted your numerous invitations to meet at your Abuja home, especially when @Sahara Reporters was exposing your foundation’s claims about eradicating malaria from Africa.”

“My only question to Eric Osagie, who extended the invitation (but later denied it), was whether you had eradicated mosquitoes around your own Abuja home. I declined the invitation, and a few weeks later, I was arrested with the help of then Abuja CP Babaji Sunday following their meeting at your mansion. We have been in court since 2022, and we have not even reached arraignment.”

“A generation that must eradicate oppression must emerge to stop you and your types. #freetumanow #RevolutionNow– Omoyele Sowore”
