Politician, Ned Nwoko, has publicly criticized activist Omoyele Sowore for standing up in defense of a man, known as Tumma, who was arrested for allegedly accusing Nwoko's wife, actress Regina Daniels, of infidelity. Tumma had claimed that the Nollywood star was romantically involved with a man in Abuja, stating he possessed evidence and even daring them to take legal action against him.

Following a petition from Ned Nwoko, the police invited Tumma for questioning. However, the arrest triggered a wave of criticism, particularly from human rights activist and politician Omoyele Sowore. Sowore condemned the arrest and detention, calling it a misuse of power and a violation of citizens’ rights.

Sowore detailed his experience while trying to secure bail for Timothy Gabriel (Tumma), noting that the police and judiciary collaborated to unlawfully detain him. He described how the prosecutor secretly obtained a 14-day detention order from the Magistrate Court in Abuja, even as Gabriel's lawyer and supporters waited in court. Sowore also revealed that the same court frequently issues such orders without proper jurisdiction.

Sowore wrote extensively about the case, highlighting how Tumma’s only ‘crime’ was allegedly insulting Regina Daniels, and he condemned the manipulation of the system by powerful individuals like Senator Ned Nwoko. He further claimed that Nwoko had a habit of providing names to the Ministry of Justice, seeking the imprisonment of individuals before trial.

In response, Ned Nwoko strongly refuted Sowore’s claims and defended the arrest, asserting that justice must prevail. He referred to both Sowore and Tumma as "miscreants" and "nonentities," stressing that legal action against Gabriel was warranted. Nwoko stated that no amount of public opinion or cyberbullying would prevent the case from being pursued in court.

Ned Nwoko wrote …

“This is who busybody jobless sowore is pretending to be defending. Sowore and the boy are miscreants and nonentities.

He challenged me to go to court. He has landed in the appropriate court and justice will take its course. One million cyber bullying idiots cant stop him from being prosecuted and punished as appropriate.”
