A lady identified as Dominica Chinwe, who claims to have been the late singer Mohbad’s close female friend, has shared an emotional and detailed account of the troubled artist’s final years and the struggles he faced behind the scenes.
In an interview with controversial activist VeryDarkMan (VDM), Dominica shed new light on Mohbad’s experiences, including his clashes with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), his ongoing battles with mental health, and the issues that led to his complicated and strained relationship with his wife, Wunmi.

According to Dominica, she first met Mohbad through her ex-boyfriend, who was close to the singer. She vividly recalled the tense day of the infamous NDLEA raid, explaining that she, Mohbad, Wunmi, and her ex-boyfriend were all at the Victoria Island residence when they learned that Marlian artist Zinoleesky had been arrested. The group immediately rushed to the Marlian house, only to find NDLEA operatives had already blocked the entrance.
Dominica recounted how Mohbad managed to gain access to the compound and urged her to go live on social media to bring public attention to the unfolding chaos. She described the intense confrontation between Mohbad and the NDLEA officers as he tried to protect Zinoleesky from being taken away. She also narrated how Wunmi got involved and even attacked an officer in a desperate attempt to help.
“Mohbad told us to enter his car and follow the NDLEA bus to the estate gate. They began shooting and rammed his car three times. He jumped out in anger and started exchanging blows with the officers. They beat him badly with their rifle butts and forced him into their van while he was still bleeding,” Dominica claimed, painting a picture of chaos and violence.
She further alleged that Mohbad was released that same night so that he could travel for a scheduled performance in Dubai, but by then, his physical and mental health had already taken a serious hit.
“After the NDLEA incident, he was hospitalized and later taken to Aro psychiatric hospital for mental health treatment because he constantly complained about severe headaches and mental stress,” she revealed.
Dominica also made serious accusations about Wunmi’s behavior, alleging that she used laughing gas (nitrous oxide) and had contacted Naira Marley to claim that Mohbad’s family wanted to harm him. According to Dominica, Wunmi disclosed personal family issues to Naira Marley in hopes of receiving his support and intervention. A UK-based doctor even offered to treat Mohbad for six months abroad, but Wunmi allegedly diverted the focus by blaming Dominica’s ex-boyfriend for Mohbad’s condition.
Dominica explained that even after Mohbad left Aro, he remained deeply traumatized, often requesting to be hospitalized. His parents eventually arranged for a nurse to live with him in order to help manage his deteriorating mental health. Despite these efforts, Mohbad continued to struggle and felt unsafe in his own home.
She also spoke about how Mohbad’s family later reconciled with Naira Marley after a viral video in which Mohbad claimed, “If I die, it is Naira Marley,” went public. Dominica insisted that Mohbad was not in a stable state of mind when he recorded that video. She further revealed that another video in which Mohbad threatened that Wunmi’s family would never know peace if anything happened to him was filmed as far back as 2022 but only surfaced after his death.
Dominica also shared an incident involving Bella Shmurda, Mohbad’s best friend, whom Wunmi allegedly reported to Naira Marley for supposedly giving Mohbad hard substances. According to Dominica, these betrayals and tensions added to the singer’s mental burden and worsened his overall health condition.
Dominica’s emotional revelations provide a rare, intimate glimpse into the chaos and pain that marked Mohbad’s final years. They also highlight the complex web of personal conflicts and betrayals surrounding him, painting a picture of an artist deeply affected by both internal and external battles.
