Nollywood actress Esther Nwachukwu, popularly known as Esther Sky, has publicly advised May Edochie, the estranged wife of actor Yul Edochie, to stop using his surname as a step toward finding peace and moving forward with her life.
This development comes in the midst of a prolonged family dispute involving the Edochies, with reports indicating that some members of the family, including veteran actress Rita Edochie, have allegedly taken sides against May, further intensifying the controversy.
The situation recently took a new turn when Yinka, the new wife of Linc Edochie (Yul’s brother), reportedly shared May’s private phone number online. This action has fueled public outrage and increased the emotional pressure on May, who has remained mostly silent throughout the ongoing saga.
Esther Nwachukwu, reacting to the situation, took to social media to air her views. She called on May to disassociate herself from the Edochie name, insisting that the name itself holds no special significance and that May has built her own brand independently of her ex-husband’s identity.
“With all due respect, drop Yul Edochie’s name, so that there would be peace. Even if your documents are associated with May Yul Edochie, go to court. There’s nothing special about the name,” Esther advised.
She went on to allege that Yul Edochie’s entire family may have collectively turned against May, suggesting a coordinated plot. According to her, the level of hostility from the family indicates a lack of support for May, which should prompt her to distance herself completely from the Edochie identity.
“The family has planned against her. All Yul Edochie’s siblings and brothers have been bought, because if they’re not discussing something about Queen May behind closed doors, the new wife wouldn’t come online and drag Queen May for no reason,” she asserted.
This is not the first time that May Edochie has faced public calls to renounce the Edochie surname. Earlier, controversial relationship coach Blessing CEO also encouraged May to “come out of his shadow” and drop the surname, stressing that Yul’s repeated disrespect and infidelity made it imperative for May to reclaim her individuality.
