Popular Nigerian actress, Lizzy Gold, has taken to social media to call out her father over what she described as an entitlement mentality following his reaction to a generous Easter gift she sent him.
According to Lizzy, she had transferred a huge amount of money to her father—ten times her usual amount—as a surprise gesture on Easter Day. She shared that she always enjoys sending money at night so that her father would wake up to the credit alert and pray for her in return.
However, this time around, instead of the heartfelt prayers she anticipated, she received just a one-word message in return: “Thanks.” The actress expressed her disappointment over the response, explaining that the lack of appreciation hurt her deeply.
“Normally, I always send money to my father. I do send money at night so that he will see the amount I have sent when he wakes up in the morning, because I love surprises,” Lizzy said in a video she later deleted from Instagram.
She further stated that she called her father to express her disappointment, only to be told, “I prayed for you in my heart.” According to her, this response was not enough, considering the effort and thought she put into the surprise.
“Daddy, I don’t pluck money from the trees. I work tirelessly for money. I enjoy the prayers. It gingers me to want to do more,” she said during the emotional confrontation.
The actress’ video has since gone viral, sparking reactions online. While many social media users sympathized with Lizzy and shared similar personal experiences, others criticized her for bringing private family matters into the public space.
