The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, recently made a profound revelation during the June edition of the RCCG Holy Ghost Service, held at the Redemption City of God in Ogun State. He disclosed a powerful message from God, warning him never to leave the RCCG or face the tragic consequence of losing his firstborn child.

The Holy Ghost Service, themed “Destined for Greatness (Part 2),” took place in the early hours of Saturday, drawing a large congregation eager to hear Pastor Adeboye’s teachings on divine direction and spiritual steadfastness. During his sermon, Pastor Adeboye addressed a concerning trend among young believers – the practice of church-hopping, where individuals frequently change their place of worship in search of new experiences or popularity.

He reminded the congregation of a message delivered earlier by his son, Pastor Leke Adeboye, highlighting the importance of remaining steadfast and rooted in the spiritual home where God has placed them. This message was intended to encourage believers to seek and follow God’s guidance rather than chasing after fleeting trends or personal preferences.

Recounting his own spiritual journey, Pastor Adeboye shared that when he was born again, several other major ministries were rapidly growing and appeared very attractive. Despite these tempting alternatives, he testified that God explicitly instructed him to remain in the RCCG, the church where he had been planted.

“When I got born again, there were three major ministries that were making waves, and they were very good. There were different temptations to go from one to another. But God said to me, ‘Son, I brought you here. This is where you will stay. The day you leave this denomination, your firstborn will die,’” Pastor Adeboye recounted solemnly.

He further explained that even though he was an academic at the time, serving as a university lecturer, God led him to submit to the leadership of his spiritual mentor, a man who had no formal education. This spiritual obedience became a defining moment in his life and ministry.

“My father in the Lord didn’t go to secondary school, not even primary. But God said this is where you will stay,” he said, emphasizing the divine direction he received that kept him committed to RCCG’s leadership and vision.

Pastor Adeboye painted a vivid picture of the humble beginnings of the church’s headquarters, which was then housed in a modest building in Ebute-Metta, Lagos. He contrasted this with the global institution RCCG has become today, underscoring that faithfulness and obedience to God’s calling can lead to tremendous growth and impact.

He cautioned Christians not to make decisions based solely on personal preference, popularity, or convenience. Instead, believers should prioritize divine guidance and remain in the spiritual environment where God has placed them, trusting that this is the path to spiritual growth and blessing.

“Discover where God wants you to stay, and stay there,” Pastor Adeboye urged, calling for commitment and spiritual perseverance among all Christians.

Clarifying his message, he stressed that his intention was not to elevate RCCG above other denominations or suggest superiority. Rather, he aimed to encourage believers to seek God’s will in their spiritual journeys and remain faithful wherever they are planted.

“I am not saying we are better than any other denomination,” he concluded, reminding listeners that every church plays a vital role in God’s kingdom when led by the Spirit and followed with a sincere heart.
