In a lively video shared on his official Instagram page, Chimezie was seen joyfully dancing along to the song. He applauded the two artists for their creativity and skill in drawing inspiration from his classic work, highlighting how the original essence of his music has been thoughtfully incorporated into their new release.
During the video, Chimezie expressed his admiration, saying, “You can see I am vibing to the song already. It’s a beautiful piece of work, very wonderful. I appreciate the fact that you said you picked the inspiration from this song I recorded many years ago; I appreciate you for that.” His words clearly reflected the respect and pride he feels seeing his legacy live on through younger artists.
In response to this heartfelt praise, Davido took to social media to express his deep respect for the veteran artist by writing a message in the Igbo language. He wrote, “Ihe di ka gi akokwala m. The track ‘With You’ is part of Davido’s fifth studio album, a project produced by the renowned beatmaker Tempoe. The song masterfully blends Highlife and Funk influences—genres that were pioneered in Nigeria during the 1970s and 80s by legendary artists such as Chimezie himself.
