This moment occurred during his performance at the 2025 edition of the highly anticipated AY Live Show, where the stand-up comedian took humorous but pointed jabs at several top Nigerian musicians.
Basketmouth applauded Davido for remaining consistent throughout his career, noting that he has stayed true to his roots and continues to surround himself with the same team since his rise to fame. According to the comedian, Davido made a wise decision by branding himself with his real name, unlike others who adopted youthful or trendy stage names early in their careers.
He then shifted focus to Wizkid, criticizing the name for including the word “kid,” suggesting that it was short-sighted. Basketmouth joked that Wizkid failed to consider aging and is now stuck with a name that no longer reflects his maturity. He claimed Wizkid has made several unsuccessful attempts to rebrand himself with new nicknames like “Machala” or “Big Bird,” but fans still associate him with the original stage name.
He extended the joke to Burna Boy, pointing out the irony of keeping the word “Boy” in his stage name despite being a grown man and global star.
