Nollywood actor Adeniyi Johnson has publicly addressed filmmaker Bola Akande, urging her to speak out following the unfortunate death of fast-rising actor Ola Lawal during a movie shoot allegedly managed by her.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Johnson expressed his grief over the tragic loss and questioned Akande’s silence regarding the incident, emphasizing that while he is not placing direct blame on her, it is crucial for her to show compassion and clarify what happened.
“We are devastated by OLA’s passing,” Johnson wrote. “Your silence is deafening. No one is accusing you of causing his death, but as someone connected to the production, it’s important to acknowledge the tragedy, provide clarity, and possibly support his grieving family.”
He also shared that Ola Lawal’s father was deeply offended by the way things were handled after his son’s passing. According to Johnson, the family was approached for the account details of Ola’s brother shortly after the death, which the father perceived as insensitive and disrespectful.
“The father feels disrespected,” Johnson added, “saying it felt like his son was being treated as a commodity, with the request for the brother’s account number coming so soon after the tragedy.”
The sudden death of Ola Lawal has left the Nollywood community in mourning, sparking widespread demands from fans and industry colleagues for transparency, accountability, and support for the deceased actor’s family.
